Your new Zenmaster watch is one-of-a-kind. Using an 18th idea combined with a mathematical algorithm we create a one of one Japanese zen garden inspired pattern for every Zenmaster watch. That means your dial is as uniquely yours as your own fingerprint. No two watches are ever the same.
Every Zenmaster Watch, One Of A Kind
The concept of 'Truchet tiles' was first conceived by Sébastien Truchet, an 18th-century French mathematician and inventor.
He introduced the idea of using repeating square tiles with fixed patterns that could be rotated individually to create highly intricate designs.
Today, Truchet tiles are used in algorithmic design to create visually captivating and unique patterns.
Using this concept we create a completely unique Zen garden inspired dial pattern for every Zenmaster watch, ensuring that no two watches are ever the same.

〇 40.5 mm case size with an extremely slim non-clunky case profile of 10.2 mm thick—and that's including crystal—no cheating
〇 Concealed bracelet connection that fits any straight-end 22 mm bracelet or strap (Premium FKM Rubber straps available during our campaign)
〇 Double quick release bracelet with butterfly clasp and screw pins for easy adjustment with the included tools
〇 10 ATM (100 meters / ~330 ft) Water Resistant, with Screw Down Crown
Materials, Coatings & Finishes
〇 Made from 316L Surgical Grade Stainless Steel in a mix of finishes; sandblasted matte as the base, horizontal brushed on the sides of the case and lugs, and a polished finish on the details
〇 A-grade surface coating (IPH), increasing surface hardness of the Zenmaster by 7.5x to protect against scratches, blemishes, sweat, fingerprints and wear marks
〇 Sapphire glass on the front and exhibition caseback, treated with anti-reflective coating, for pristine clarity from every angle
〇 Premium FKM Rubber strap (cut-to-size) available as add-ons in a range colors for a completely new look

The pattern may seem outspoken, but it disappears and reappears depending on how the light catches it, maintaining the minimalistic look of the watch.
Switch styles in seconds
Zenmaster has versatility baked into the design. Our concealed bracelet connection fits any straight ended 22 mm strap, while maintaining an integrated look. Plus, with our Premium FKM Rubber Straps with quick release pins you can switch styles in seconds.
Easy DIY adjustment
Effortlessly undo the bracelet with the double quick release spring bar and easily adjust your bracelet to size, using the included screwdriver tools.
Founders Edition
Only during our crowdfunding campaign will you be able to purchase a Founders Edition Zenmaster, with the Founders inscription on the dial.

Our story
In 2020, we, Jordi van Staveren (left) and Alain van den Donk (right), founded pOrtahl® with a mission: to reimagine classic watchmaking for today’s world.
Frustrated by the endless copies of legendary designs flooding the market, we set out to create watches that honor classic watch design while speaking a bold, new, modern design language—and most importantly, without the sky-high price tag.
In 2022, we launched our first watch, Peacemaker, on Kickstarter & Indiegogo. With 222 backers and 563% funding, it proved our vision resonated.
On March 27 we’re writing the next chapter of pOrtahl® with the Zenmaster. Join us on this adventure!
